How much is actually behind VIP

The numbers matter here, because the fear of missing out is worse than the reality. The community item database tags roughly 240 items as VIP and more than 875 as non-VIP. VIP is about a fifth of the wardrobe, not most of it.

What VIP actually buys:

A VIP tag above your display name
Access to the VIP Dressing Room, connected to the Standard Dressing Room
The items inside it

It costs 399 Robux per month or 799 Robux for permanent access. Gamepasses can be gifted, and prices vary by region because of Roblox’s regional pricing — the developer Gigi confirmed that in the official Discord in May 2024, so a friend seeing a different price is not a bug.

Themes that lean hardest on VIP

These are the ones where “no VIP” searches spike, and what to use instead:

Themes VIP barely helps with

Some of the highest-volume themes in the game are fully buildable free, because their purpose-made items are not VIP at all:

Steampunk — Steampunk Corset and Steampunk Skirt are both free.
Rococo — the Rococo Reverie Dress is free.
Neapolitan — the Neapolitan Swirl Top is free.
Avant-garde — the theme rewards stacking ordinary items into strange shapes, which costs nothing.
Thrifted — owning coordinated expensive sets is actively a disadvantage.
Plushcore — an active code (CA11MEHHALEY) hands you a complete bear set.

Free ways to widen your wardrobe

Before you consider paying, do these:

Redeem every active code. There are 26 live codes on the codes page, each permanently unlocking items. This is the single biggest free wardrobe expansion available.
Claim Daily Login rewards. Added in the July 2026 update.
Play Baddie Pass tiers. Blue Hearts (XP) come from rounds, Hall of Fame daily tasks at 150 each, the Makeover Boutique score, and Board Surfing pickups.
Earn rank items. A few ranks unlock items you cannot get any other way.
Use Freeplay to test builds with no timer so you learn what your existing wardrobe can do.
