DTI Duo Themes Guide

What a versus theme actually asks for

The DTI theme pool contains a set of paired prompts written as “X vs Y”:

  • Android vs Cyborg
  • Angels vs Devils
  • Detective vs Suspect
  • Ghosts vs Ghouls
  • Pirates vs Sailors
  • Popstar vs Rockstars
  • Unicorn vs Pegasus and other creature pairs
  • Opposites Attract

These are scored on contrast between two players, not on one player being pretty. Two outfits that clearly belong to the same idea while sitting on opposite sides of it beat two individually strong but unrelated looks.

The coordination problem

You get 360 seconds. That is not enough time to negotiate. Every successful duo does the same three things before the theme even appears:

  1. Agree who takes which side. Decide it in the lobby, not in the Dressing Room.
  2. Agree a shared colour pair. Both outfits should draw from the same two colours, split opposite ways — one mostly white with black accents, the other mostly black with white accents. Shared palette is what makes two avatars read as one entry.
  3. Agree a shared silhouette rule. Both long, or both short, or both structured. Matching shape with opposite styling is what sells the pairing.

Playing solo on a versus theme

If you get a versus theme without a partner, you have two workable options.

Build both halves on one avatar. This is the Alter Ego approach — a hard vertical split down the centre, one side each. It reads well because voters can see the whole concept in a single avatar.

Pick one side and commit hard. A perfect Detective beats a muddled Detective-and-Suspect. If you go this way, choose the more visually distinctive of the two sides: Suspect over Detective, Devil over Angel, Ghoul over Ghost.

Where duos actually work best

  • Freeplay Mode — no theme, no timer, 17 players. The natural place to build a coordinated duo properly.
  • Private servers — the July 2026 update added a server control panel, which makes running a themed duo session with friends much easier.
  • Custom Theme Prop — 75 Robux, or free from the Baddie Pass, and the only way to force a specific theme in a live round. Spin the theme wheel for one if you want it random.

What loses duo rounds

  • No shared palette. Two good outfits that do not look related read as two separate entries.
  • Both players on the same side. Two devils is not a versus.
  • Negotiating during the round. You will both finish half-dressed.
