What Dark Harvest is asking for

Dark Harvest sits in folk horror, not Halloween horror. The reference points are harvest festivals that have curdled — scarecrows, corn dollies, wicker, ritual masks, and clothes that look like they have been worn through a season of field work. It is autumnal first and frightening second, which is exactly the ordering most players get backwards.

The clearest way to separate it from every other spooky theme in the pool: Dark Harvest characters are people who work the land, not monsters. A vampire is Cursed Beauty territory. A carnival ghoul is Sinister Circus. Dark Harvest is the farmhand you should not follow into the corn.

Building it without VIP

• Withered Rose Dress is the strongest single free anchor — the decay is already built into the item.
• Rag Skirt or Brat Rag Skirt over anything gives you the frayed, worked-in edge the theme wants.
