Two halves again, and the circus half has to come first. Pick a role people recognise instantly:

Then add the sinister layer: smudged or cracked makeup, torn fabric, faded colour, an expression that does not match the costume. The clown is the easiest to make frightening and therefore the most crowded — the ringmaster and fortune teller both score better precisely because fewer people pick them.

Building it without VIP
