What Rave is asking for
Rave is festival and club culture rendered as an outfit: everything neon, everything designed to glow under UV light. The specific vocabulary is fluffy leg warmers, kandi (stacked handmade bead bracelets, often up to the elbow), tiny bright separates, body glitter, platform boots, goggles or LED accessories, and hair in an unnatural colour.
It shares neon with Cyberpunk but nothing else. Cyberpunk is dark and utilitarian with neon accents; Rave is neon from head to toe with no darkness at all. It also overlaps Arcade on colour, but Arcade is 80s casual and Rave is contemporary club.
Building it without VIP
- Cutout Tube Top, Swimsuit Top or Gym Baddie Tank Top in a neon colour.
- Micro Mini Skirt, Grafitti Shorts or Fur Trim Shorts for the bottom.
- Fluffy legwear is the strongest single Rave signal available — Idol Leg Warmers, Fur Cuffs worn at the ankle, or anything with a fur trim.
- Stack bracelets: Bracelet Cluster, Spiked Bracelets, Diamond Bracelet, all at once.
- Chunky Platform Sandals, Lace-Up Platform Boots or Buffalo Sneakers.
- Galaxy Glam Makeup with glitter; bright hair.
Colour and silhouette
Three or more neons at once — UV green, neon pink, electric blue, neon orange. Black is allowed only as a ground for the neon to sit against. The silhouette is minimal on the body with volume at the legs and arms: tiny top, tiny bottom, huge boots, huge leg warmers.
What loses votes
- Dark and moody. That is Cyberpunk.
- One neon accent. Rave needs saturation everywhere.
- Flat shoes. Platforms are practically a requirement.
