What Phantom Fashion is asking for

Phantom Fashion is elegance that has faded. The reference is a figure in formal dress who has been in the same house for a hundred years: the gown was once beautiful, the colour has drained out of it, and parts of it are now sheer where they should be solid.

Two things do the work. Translucency — layers you can partly see through, veils, sheer sleeves, mesh over skin. And desaturation — everything in the grey-to-ivory band, with no warm colour anywhere.
